If you’re like me and sometimes like to play the ratings watch game as an inclinition of what will happen to your favorite or up and coming favorite shows here’s what Deadline had to say about The Secret Circle! We did very good!

The CW dramas continued to rebound this week after being pummeled by the competition during premiere week. With a flashback episode, The Vampire Diaries (2.7 million, 1.3/4 in 18-49, 1.4/5 in 18-34) was up 7% in total viewers, 17% in 18-34 and 8% in 18-49 from last week. The Secret Circle (2 million, 1.0/3 in 18-34) was up 11% in 18-34 and even in viewers.

Season 1: “Loner”
ADAM IS JEALOUS WHEN CASSIE BRINGS A DATE TO THE SCHOOL DANCE — A cute jock named Luke (guest star Zachary Abel) asks Cassie (Britt Robertson) to the school dance, and after watching Adam (Thomas Dekker) spend time with Diana (Shelley Hennig) at the boathouse, she accepts his offer. Meanwhile, Melissa (Jessica Parker Kennedy) sees the dance as an opportunity to get closer to Nick (Louis Hunter). Faye (Phoebe Jane Tonkin), on the other hand, has no plans to go and remains focused on finding a way to control her powers. Dawn (Natasha Henstridge) discovers someone from their past, an intense man named Zachary (guest star Dave Baez), is in town asking questions about the Cassie and the Circle, so she asks Charles (Gale Harold) to keep an eye on him.

Shelley teases what’s to come in upcoming episodes of The Secret Circle. Read and watch the clip below.

Even though we’re only just getting to know the daring and potentially dangerous denizens of Chance Harbor on the new CW soap “The Secret Circle,” given the way things seem to be headed, it’s safe to say there is a lot of drama on the horizon. And stuff catching on fire too.

MTV News recently caught up with star Shelley Hennig (a.k.a. good girl Diana Meade) to get her take on how things are going to play out this season and what kind of magic we’ll see practiced among those pretty young witches.

“We just wrapped [episode six] a few hours ago,” she revealed at The CW’s premiere party. “There are lots of love triangles, lots of magic, and my favorite thing about the show is that it is definitely a coming-of-age story and we’re just beginning to understand what our powers are. I’m looking forward to knowing what each character is capable of. I feel like we’re getting a piece of that soon.”

Interesting that they don’t yet know how powerful all the characters are, which leads me to believe that those crafty showrunners want their magical power reveals to be a slow burn. With regard to what kind of spell casting we’ll see from Diana in particular, Shelley said to expect to see a lot going up in smoke.

“There’s a lot of fire stuff,” she said. “I mainly do a lot of magic wit the group. You haven’t seen Diana do any solo power yet. That would be cool. Like what does Diana do in her bedroom like on a Thursday or Friday night?” she wondered. “What kind of witchcraft is she doing? I don’t know, she’s usually with Adam. There is some good Adam and Diana stuff coming up that I think people will really enjoy,” she teased.

SheKnows: Kevin Williamson is a genius when it comes to building on a genre rather than making it completely unrecognizable. How has it been working on a Kevin Williamson project of this nature?

Shelley Hennig: I have total trust in him, first of all, because of The Vampire Diaries and everything else he’s done. What I love most about Kevin’s writing, and his shows, is the relationships are real. Yes, we’re doing a supernatural show but the relationships are so real and everyone can relate to each relationship in the show and that’s, in my opinion, what makes his shows so great.

SheKnows: Obviously, we know you from Days [Days of Our Lives] and when we saw the pilot you were almost unrecognizable — it was kind of cool to see you in a different way.

Shelley Hennig: I thought it was cool too because people really do know me as Stephanie from Days of Our Lives. That was my first job, so it was really important to me that I did look completely different, but it’s also important that the look keeps changing — I’ll be recognizable again (laughs).

SheKnows: We had to keep doing double takes of the pictures.

Shelley Hennig: I can play so many different nationalities and people. I kind of have fun getting ready for auditions and playing different characters.

SheKnows: If your character could cross over to The Vampire Diaries, who would you want to have scenes with and who do you think Diana would relate to the most?

Shelley Hennig: Oh, that’s a good one! My first instinct is Elena — a good girl just wanting to be normal, because she’s put in a situation where’s she’s fallen in love with a vampire and it’s the same with Diana. Diana never asked to be a witch, she just happened to find a book of shadows and boom, her entire life has changed — but it is her life and she embraces it and Elena does the same thing.
